I am now a business owner!

It's official! I am coming on here to announce the news that I have reached a very big milestone in my life - I have now officially become a business owner! It's been a long and difficult journey at times to get to this stage, but working the last 18 months on this business idea has also allowed me to discover something that would give me a huge sense of worth and purpose in my life, something that I originally had never thought about when I graduated from university in October 2022.

At this present time, I am currently focusing on getting my reach out at craft fairs - the fantasy map idea has gained a lot of popularity at the University of Suffolk Christmas Fair eight months back (famous novelists included), and so I felt that this would be the best way to attract new customers to my business before deciding whether to open up an online shop - I am most certainly looking forward to opening that side of the business when the time comes!

And speaking of craft fairs, I will be present at the Felixstowe Arts and Crafts Fair that will be taking place in the Felixstowe Leisure Centre on the 25th of August - so if you are in Suffolk and are interested in grabbing some of my fantasy maps that will (hopefully) make you shine, save the date and come over to my stall - you certainly won't be disappointed in choice!

Plus loads more sellers on offer!

To separate personal affairs from business ones, I have decided from now on to create dedicated Instagram and Facebook pages that will focus only on the commercial side of the fantasy mapping empire. Posts regarding this development will be made shortly on the other social media accounts, but for now, take a look at the following links for my pages and give a follow or like:

Facebook: Jakub's Fantasy Map World

And of course, I cannot thank enough everyone who has worked with me for helping to make this business idea a reality - the University of Suffolk Careers, Employability and Enterprise teams (a special mention goes to the Enterprise Manager, Amy Volkert), the team involved with running Start Build Grow, as well as the colleagues at Realise Futures.

The next stage has now begun!

With much love,

Jakub

Exploring the zen atmosphere of Slowroads.io

I would like to use this blog post to explore something that is slightly different to fantasy map creation, but still blends in nicely with the theme of this blog by providing a review of wellness-related products in the virtual gaming world. For those who are unfamiliar with the site, Slowroads.io is a web-based driving simulator made by Anslo that aims to provide a relaxing driving experience, and it uses some interesting software engineering quirks, such as using AI to generate a continuous set of landscapes. Slowroads offers two maps, the "Hills" map (which is fictional, but takes inspiration from the landscapes seen in the north of England) and the "Off World" map (based on Mars), however, for the purposes of this post, I will be using the "Hills" map to review the simulator since the user experience with both maps is fairly similar.  Upon accessing the landing page for the simulator, the one thing that I was fascinated about with respect to the look...
