Post-Bootcamp Adventures - Innovation Labs Party, and gaining recognition

Hello and welcome to this post-bootcamp blogpost documenting the celebration of the 1 year anniversary of the University of Suffolk Innovation Labs that took place on the 25th of July 2023, and the incredibly pleasant vibes that came along with it!  I would like to point out that I have previously made a brief mention about this event on my social media profiles, but since you are coming to the blog to see the full event experiences, here we are!  Event experience It was 3:15pm at the Atrium Building and the doors into the building were left wide open. When I got there, the Prosecco's weren't ready, and there were just rows of clean, empty glasses sitting on the table outside the building.  The building at the time was almost empty, with two participants that I recognised from the Bootcamp also sat inside. This also meant that I got to enjoy the secrets of the party - as the University staff were playing a video from one of the Innovation Labs members (who happened to be a Bo

Random Fantasy Maps #1 - Town of Somerville

Hello everyone! After a journey through the Make a Difference Boot Camp with Enterprise Manager Amy, the time has finally come for me to go back to fantasy map normality for a while.  But first, let's do some backtracking to the start of the project.  At the end of May, just before the start of Bootcamp, I decided to start a new series where I am going to be doing some smaller projects alongside the Youtubia continent project, drawing random fantasy maps from different eras. The subject of the first post of this series is going to be the town of Somerville, a minimalist, modern city map drawing. What is the city of Somerville? Somerville is a mid-sized town of approximately 55,000 people on the banks of the Lea River. The town centre is very popular with tourists, with a plethora of narrow alleyways and old buildings dating back to the 13th century, and gains inspiration from the alleyways of the Spanish city of Barcelona. The old town was used as a crucial defence position in man

Post-Bootcamp adventures - Federation of Small Businesses networking event

Hello, and welcome to the Post-Bootcamp Adventure series, where I plan on documenting my trips to any business events that I may come across, and other fantasy map-related real-life adventures that I may stumble upon from time-to-time. After all, the fun that I've had at the Make a Difference Boot Camp doesn't have to stop there! In this inaugural post, I am going to provide you with a raw, first-hand account of how things went at the Suffolk Small Business Networking event which took place on the 19th of July 2023 at the University of Suffolk.  For those who don't know what the event is about, the Suffolk Small Business networking event is a business meet-up event that is run jointly by the Business Development team at the University of Suffolk (with the event led from that side by Malcolm Beer ), in partnership with colleagues from the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). The networking event is usually held in the Atrium building of the University, and takes place ever

My experience at the Make a Difference Boot Camp - The Grand Finale

Well, here it is everybody - the final installment of the Make a Difference Boot Camp series!  The Volkert has returned to bring life back to the Bootcamp after the theory labyrinth of Days 6 and 7, and we're going to take you through the journey of preparing and practicing the pitch, and then presenting it to a crowd of judges and guests as part of the Grand Finale. Plus, tons of intense action (of different sorts) along the way! If you are new to reading the Make a Difference series and you aren't yet familiar with the events that led up to the Grand Finale, I would like to invite you to take a look at the previous posts that I have made on the Make a Difference Boot Camp: Days 1 to 3 ; Days 4 and 5 ; as well as Days 6 and 7 . Have I won the £2000 share of the prize money? Find out later in this post! Day 8 - 30th of June 2023 The day started off with a change of geographic scenery this time - unlike previous days where I was waiting outside the Atrium building waiting to be
